Storytime blog: Are they really ‘Indestructible’?

Workman’s new series for infants checks out.

By Kristen SchottPublished: January, 2010

If you’ve been following "Storytime" you already know a little about the Indestructibles series from Workman Publishing.

Written by Kaaren Pixton, “Wiggle! March!” “Flutter! Fly!” and “Creep! Crawl!” are touted as chew-proof, rip-proof, nontoxic and 100 percent washable. What?

I have to admit – I was a little bit skeptical. So, I decided to put them to the test.

First, I tried to rip them:

It's bent, but not broken.

Then, I spilled ketchup on one of the books:

It cleaned up pretty well with soap and water:

Finally, I tried to chew the book:

My results? I’m impressed. Even though the books now have a bit of a wrinkle here and there, slight discoloration from the ketchup and water mix and bite marks, they held up pretty well, and they’ll definitely survive your young one’s teeth, hands, drool and crumbs.

Be sure to watch “Storytime” to hear what else these tales offer.
