You can give it to the government.” Gabriella, 3, Tyler, 5 One day, my son asked me to get something for him; I told him he had to say “please,” but he wouldn't say it. So I said, “Say the magic word first, and I will get it for you.” He answered, “ABRACADABRA!” Kristoffer, 3 Several days after Sadie's surgery to correct her problem with acid reflux, associated with Down Syndrome, she was jumping up and down in excitement to watch “Lazy Town.” I said, “Be careful with your belly – it’s still healing.” “My belly is great,” she said as she put her hand on my arm. “It's okay. Trust me.” Sadie, 6 When trying to explain that Mommy and Daddy had other names (our first names), my 3-year-old, Brady, told me, “Papa's other name is Babe; Grandma likes Babe!” Brady, 3 I took my son, Zander, into a public restroom to change him. We walked in, and he looked up at me and said, "Momma, it smells funny in here." I asked him what it smelled like, and he scrunched up his nose, looked at me very seriously and replied, “Bottoms.” Zander, 2 Whenever my daughter finishes her food, I always encourage and tell her, "You're the best!" One day, while we were eating together and when her plate was empty, she turned to me and said, “Mommy, you're the beast!” This caught me by surprise, but I knew she meant “best.” Jessica, 2 I made my 3-year-old a PB & J, and after I handed it to him he said, “No jelly.” So I made him a PB-only sandwich. He handed it back and got really upset, “No jelly! No jelly!” After a brief discussion with him, I realized he wanted a jelly sandwich. He was really saying, “No – jelly!” Zachary, 3 When my twins were 2, I was teaching them their middle and last names. When I asked my son what his whole name was, he said “Nathan Gregory Come-Here.” Nathan, 6 Share your child’s best quips in real time with the new Kid Quips Journal iphone app. |
