He replied, “I didn’t used to be able to drink milk because I was black-toast intolerant.” Joshua 10 I asked my daughter the other day what she wanted to be when she grows up. She replied, “I want to be Asian, just like you, Mommy.” (Her father is Caucasian.) My husband and I couldn’t stop laughing. Emily, 7 After arriving at the Grand Canyon, we took a bus tour that made a few stops to see the sights and take pictures. After the third stop, Natalie turned to me and said, “Mommy, this bus driver is just going in circles. We are still at the Grand Canyon!” Natalie, 6 On Memorial Day, we visited a museum that had really neat airplanes from World War II. My dad pointed out all the guns on the planes to my son. (Gee, thanks, Grandpa!) Fast-forward a few weeks to Reid’s first actual flight on an airplane. As we neared the airport and I pointed out the Jet Blue plane we would be on, he said, “Where are the machine guns?” Good thing we weren’t within earshot of airport security! Reid, 2½ Last week, when our son was playing with an electric fan, we told him that if he continued to do that he could lose some of his fingers and wouldn’t be able to play with his toys. His response was, “I want my freedom!” My husband and I couldn’t believe what we had just heard, so we asked him if he really said that. With a little grin on his face, he replied, “I want my fingers.” Nathan, 4 Jocelyn asked me where her bubbles were. When I told her that I put them under the kitchen sink, she look into the sink and said, You mean in the hole? Jocelyn, 3 Josh caught his first fish at around age 6. He thought he had caught several, but it was the same (dead) one that he had hooked again and again in the eye. At one point, he ran up from the lake and said, “Look, Mommy, I caught a fish with a hooker!” Joshua, 10 “Momma, give me some love on my lips.” Zander, 3 My daughter was outgrowing the age that it was cute to burp. One day she was doing it, and I said, “Honey, it’s not very ladylike to burp.” She said, “Is it boylike?” After laughing I said, “Yes, sort of.” Cassidy, 4 I gave my son some mild salsa for his quesadilla. He looked at it, reached in it with his fingers, grabbed a piece of cilantro and said, “Uh oh. Leaf!” Luke, 2½ |
