By Inland Empire FamilyPublished: June, 2007

(For ages 5-12)

Ratatouille
Opens June 29, Rated G
disney.go.com/disneypictures/ratatouille/
Every career aspiration has its challenges, but for Remy, his dream of being a famous French chef is an improbability because, well, he’s a rat. His kind is unwelcome in restaurants, especially at the five-star bistro drawn by Pixar’s animators in what will hopefully be a better collaboration with Disney than was the spring’s “Meet the Robinsons.” Voicing for director Brad Bird (“The Incredibles”) are Brad Garrett as rodent-hating chef Auguste Gusteau, and Patton Oswalt as Remy, along with Peter O’Toole and Janeane Garofalo.

(For ages 10-16)

Evan Almighty
Opens June 22, Rated PG
evanalmighty.com
The sequel to “Bruce Almighty” shows little resemblance to the 2003 original, sending Buffalo’s back-stabbing news anchor Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) to Washington as a newly elected congressman. Once there, Jim Carrey is nowhere to be found, but Evan does find God (Morgan Freeman in a returning role), who commands him to build an ark. Family and friends can’t decide whether Evan is bonkers or on a mission from God.

(For ages 9-14)

Nancy Drew
Opens June 15, Rated PG
nancydrewmovie.com
Emma Roberts of Nickelodeon’s “Unfabulous” and the unfabulous teen comedy “Aquamarine” stars as heroine detective Nancy Drew in the feature debut for the character created in the 1930s. While accompanying her father on a business trip to L.A., Nancy stumbles across evidence that could solve a case involving the mysterious death of a movie star.

(For ages 12-18)

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Opens June 15, Rated PG-13
riseofthesilversurfer.com
A silvery dude on a flying surfboard crashes the wedding of Mr. Fantastic (Ioan Gruffudd) and the Invisible Woman (Jessica Alba), setting the stage for the sequel to the 2005 actioner based on the Marvel Comics title. The plot is loosely based on three issues published in 1966 that introduced the Silver Surfer, which in the movie, is a CGI character voiced by Laurence Fishburne. Chris Evans (Human Torch) and Michael Chiklis (The Thing) complete the returning four superheroes who battle both the intergalactic surfer and their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom.
