Despite the rivalry, Jess and Leslie become friends, and she ultimately opens up a fantasy world to him. In the land of Terabithia, mystical creatures roam and the two children rule as king and queen. Jess is played by Josh Hutcherson, who was terrific as the irritable big brother in the underappreciated space adventure "Zathura." Starring as Leslie is Anna Sophia Robb, best known as Violet Beauregarde in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and as Opal in "Because of Winn-Dixie." Billy Bob Thornton plays a man whose life-long goal was to be an astronaut, but when a family situation forced him to drop out of the NASA training program, his career ended, though not the dream.
