‘Alice in Wonderland’Opens March 5, rated PG In a match made in Hollywood heaven and brokered by Disney, Tim Burton lends his trademark brand of gothic whimsy to an update of Lewis Carroll’s trippy tale of a girl who falls down a rabbit hole and into a fantasy world inhabited by anthropomorphic creatures. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter adds to the promise of delicious insanity in his seventh time working under Burton’s direction – sixth for co-star Helena Bonham Carter, who just happens to be the director’s domestic partner. ‘How to Train Your Dragon’Opens March 26, rated PG Teens who think they have it rough today should consider themselves lucky they’re not Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, whose saga is set around the 10th century. The heir to the Viking chiefdom must prove his worthiness to his tribe and father by hunting down the fiercest dragon in the land. Trouble is, a hero Hiccup is not. The voice cast of DreamWorks’ animated 3-D feature includes Gerald Butler, America Ferrara and Craig Ferguson. ‘Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang’Opens March 25, rated PG The 2005 original didn’t even reach $50 million in domestic box office receipts, but that hasn’t stopped its star, writer and executive producer – plus Universal Studios – from making a sequel, this one set on a farm. Emma Thompson reprises her role as the homely, yet effective nanny who knocks sense into misbehaving children through discipline and magic.
