A book-smart teen joins his school’s wrestling team in hopes of reuniting his mother (Patricia Clarkson) and estranged older brother 10 years after the death of his father, a legendary all-state grappler. The family drama stars John Cena, a WWE professional wrestler who has made an impressive transition to acting.

• ‘Logan’

Opens Sept. 10, rated PG

In an age when Flip cameras and YouTube are making anyone a filmmaker, perhaps a movie about a 13-year-old boy having a “seemingly impossible idea to make a film” isn’t that far-fetched. But that’s the premise of this small-budget movie guided by the message that you must believe in yourself – whatever the odds.

• ‘You Again’

Opens Sept. 24, rated PG
facebook.com/youagainmovie
Jamie Lee Curtis hopes to go three-for-three doing Disney movies, playing a mother whose engaged son is about to make her related to her high school nemesis. Making things more interesting, and comical for us, is that the enemy’s niece, the fiancé, was the high school archenemy of the fiancée’s sister. Sounds confusing, but also sounds like a farce rich with laughs. Kristen Bell and Sigourney Weaver co-star.

NEW DVD RELEASES

• ‘Babies’
Ages 7 and up
Released late September, rated PG):
This visually stunning documentary simultaneously chronicles, from delivery to first steps, four lives among Earth’s newest human inhabitants: Hattie in America, Mari in Japan, Bayar in Mongolia and Ponijao in Namibia. Keeping this from being G-rated are labor room scenes and maternal nudity. Grade: A

• ‘Iron Man 2’
Ages 12-18, released Sept. 28, rated PG-13):
Like its exhilarating and highly entertaining 2008 predecessor starring Robert Downey Jr. as the playboy superhero, the sequel also boasts plenty of explosive action. Unfortunately, it’s what made the original
so great that is lost in this story. The interesting characters, exciting plots and sustained whimsy are missing, making for one rusty Iron Man.  Grade: C

• ‘Preschool is Cool: Counting with Elmo’
Ages 3-6, released Sept. 14, not rated
Learning numbers is fun and musical when Professor Grover has trouble remembering what each number is and Elmo saves the digit-driven day. Youngsters can count on many “Sesame Street” friends taking part in this “edutaining” title. Grade: A-
