Colgate-Palmolive has teamed up with Reading is Fundamental (RIF), the nation’s oldest and largest children’s literacy program. to promote childhood literacy. Since 1966, RIF has been teaming with children, their parents and the community to make reading an everyday activity. RIF services 4.5 million children nationwide and focuses on providing reading material to low-income children, ages birth to 8. Since 2004. Colgate has provided $800,000 worth of books and bilingual supplies to children across the country. Colgate hopes that, through their collaboration, kids will not only make reading part of their daily ritual, but hygienic habits, such as washing hands and brushing teeth, will be part of their routine, as well. Colgate has started an online Healthy Bedtime Habits Program for kids and their parents. The interactive course includes games, stories, activities, prizes and a parents’ message board to help families make nighttime habits fun. It’s all part of an online journal that tracks the child’s nightly hygiene upkeep. At the end of the course, once the child has completed the set amount of logs, they earn prizes and rewards.
