NEW OUTREACH PROVOST UC Riverside has named Pamela Clute, a mathematics and science specialist widely recognized for her work with K-12 students and teachers, as assistant vice provost for Academic Outreach and Educational Partnerships. Clute will coordinate and support campus-wide outreach activities that will include K-12 schools, community college transfers and graduate outreach initiatives. FREE HEARING SCREENING The Casa Colina Audiology Center has begun a free hearing screening program on the first Monday of every month, from 3-6 p.m. Children, young adults and the elderly are welcome to be have their hearing screened and evaluated at no charge. Each screening takes about 10 minutes and is done by appointment only. All participants will receive a copy of their screening and the audiologist’s recommendations. Casa Colina is located at 255 E. COUNTY SPELLING BEE The best young spellers from schools all over Riverside County are gathering at Martin Luther King High School on March 15 for the 2005 Riverside County Spelling Bee. The competition begins at 9:30 a.m. and the awards ceremony concludes at 2 p.m. The winners will represent Riverside County at the State Spelling Bee to be held in May at Sonoma State University. HONOR FOR KINDERCARE KinderCare Learning Centers have been cited as “the place voters most trust with their children,” according to a recent Readers’ Choice poll in the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
