Ray Ushikubo
Violin virtuoso
Grade: 2
Mark Twain Elementary School, Riverside

Ray Ushikubo started piano and violin lessons at the age of 6. After just one year, he has already won several local and statewide piano and violin competitions. Recently this young virtuoso received the Gold Prize (first place) at the AADGT International Young Musician Competition. Last month, Ray played at the Merkin Concert Hall in New York. Matched against music students up to age 14 at the Violin Bach competition, he grabbed first place.
   
When he’s not practicing, Ray loves to play golf and go wakeboarding during the summer.
